Key findings: P3041.2 - Manufacturing: Production and sales, August 2015

Manufacturing production decreased by 0,2% in August 2015 compared with August 2014. The largest negative contribution was made by the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (-8,0% and contributing -1,6 percentage points).

Large positive contributions were made by the following divisions:

  • petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products (4,8% and contributing 1,0 percentage point); and
  • food and beverages (2,9% and contributing 0,7 of a percentage point).

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 0,4% in August 2015 compared with July 2015. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,1% in July 2015 and 1,0% in June 2015.

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 0,3% in the three months ended August 2015 compared with the previous three months. Six of the ten manufacturing divisions reported negative growth rates over this period.

The main contributor to the 0,3% decrease was the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (-2,1% and contributing -0,4 of a percentage point).
