Key findings: P3041.2 - Manufacturing: Production and sales, July 2015

Manufacturing production increased by 5,6% in July 2015 compared with July 2014. This increase was mainly due to higher production in the following divisions:

  • basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery (17,4% and contributing 2,9 percentage points); and
  • motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment (39,6% and contributing 2,6 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production increased by 0,3% in July 2015 compared with June 2015. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,8% in June 2015 and -0,7% in May 2015.

Seasonally adjusted manufacturing production decreased by 1,3% in the three months ended July 2015 compared with the previous three months. Six of the ten manufacturing divisions reported negative growth rates over this period.

The main contributors to the 1,3% decrease were the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (-3,6% and contributing -0,7 of a percentage point) and the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division (-3,4% and contributing -0,7 of a percentage point).
