Seasonally adjusted production

The seasonally adjusted manufacturing production for the three months ended January 2010 increased by 4,1% compared with the previous three months ended October 2009, better than the revised 3,4% quarter-on-quarter increase in December 2009. Higher production levels were reported by eight of the ten manufacturing divisions during the latest three months.

The increase was driven mainly by higher production in the motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment division (17,1% and contributing 1,6 percentage points), the basic iron and steel, non-ferrous metal products, metal products and machinery division (5,5% and contributing 1,1 percentage points), the petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products division (3,8% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point), the furniture and
