Key findings: P2041 - Mining: Production and sales, November 2008

The total mining production for the three months ended November 2008, after seasonal adjustment, increased by 6,1% compared with the previous three months. The main contributor to the 6,1% increase was PGMs (9,0 percentage points).

The total seasonally adjusted value of mineral sales at current prices for the three months ended October 2008 reflected an increase of 0,7% compared with the previous three months. This increase of 0,7% (R534,2 million) can be largely attributed to an increase of 1,2% (R799,9 million) in non-gold mineral sales.
