Key findings: P1101.1 - Large scale agriculture survey, 2006
The agricultural sector continues to be a significant provider of employment and gross farming income for 2006 was R49 704, 8 million, this according to the 2006 Survey of Large Scale Agriculture. The survey further found that the total farming debt for the year ended 28 February 2006 stood at R19 618, 2 million and Mpumalanga showed the highest total value of losses during the survey period, (R119, 6 million).
The 2006 Survey of Large Scale Agriculture is the second survey that Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) has conducted in the agricultural sector since the 2002 Census of Commercial Agriculture. Today
