IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In December 2019, 4 657 450 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 1 477 588 South African residents and 3 179 862 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 1 559 368 were made up of 78 185 non-visitors and 1 481 183 visitors. The visitors consisted of 500 145 same-day visitors and 981 038 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 256 796 from overseas; 710 783 from the SADC countries; 12 162 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 1 297 tourists was classified as unspecified.
