IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In May 2019, 3 285 819 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 896 563 South African residents and 2 389 256 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 1 213 675 were made up of 78 492 non-visitors and 1 135 183 visitors. The visitors consisted of 381 666 same-day visitors and 753 517 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 166 227 from overseas; 573 862 from the SADC countries; 12 242 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 1 186 tourists was classified as unspecified.
