IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In August 2019, 3 698 819 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 1 006 615 South African residents and 2 692 204 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 1 377 914 were made up of 88 009 non-visitors and 1 289 905 visitors. The visitors consisted of 392 927 same-day visitors and 896 978 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 213 074 from overseas; 668 741 from the SADC countries; 13 845 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 1 318 tourists was classified as unspecified.
