IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In October 2019, 3 435 653 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 927 951 South African residents and 2 507 702 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 1 297 483 were made up of 85 725 non-visitors and 1 211 758 visitors. The visitors consisted of 377 483 same-day visitors and 834 275 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 248 673 from overseas; 572 219 from the SADC countries; 12 008 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 1 375 tourists was classified as unspecified.
