Key findings: P0351 - Tourism and Migration, August 2023
In August 2023, 2 577 724
travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s
ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 690 126 South African residents
and 1 887 598 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 985 800 were
made up of 29 325 non-visitors and 956 475 visitors. The visitors
consisted of 248 316 same-day visitors and 708 159 overnight visitors
(tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 165 705
from overseas; 530 625 from the SADC countries; 10 942 from 'other'
African countries and the country of residence of 887 tourists was classified
as unspecified.
