IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In May 2023, 2 378 670 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 659 639 South African residents and 1 719 031 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 895 463 were made up of 28 300 non-visitors and 867 163 visitors. The visitors consisted of 237 063 same-day visitors and 630 100 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 132 443 from overseas; 485 608 from the SADC countries; 10 885 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 1 164 tourists was classified as unspecified.
