IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In December 2022, 2 881 887 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 965 599 South African residents and 1 916 288 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 971 425 were made up of 75 493 non-visitors and 895 932 visitors. The visitors consisted of 218 094 same-day visitors and 677 838 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 190 667 from overseas; 476 932 from the SADC countries; 9 180 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 1 059 tourists was classified as unspecified.
