IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In August 2022, 2 206 838 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 653 190 South African residents and 1 553 648 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 820 708 were made up of 65 506 non-visitors and 755 202 visitors. The visitors consisted of 199 370 same-day visitors and 555 832 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 132 757 from overseas; 413 522 from the SADC countries; 8 725 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 828 tourists was classified as unspecified.
