IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In May 2022, 1 659 163 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 551 888 South African residents and 1 107 275 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 572 870 were made up of 48 318 non-visitors and 524 552 visitors. The visitors consisted of 117 290 same-day visitors and 407 262 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 92 368 from overseas; 305 900 from the SADC countries; 8 170 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 824 tourists was classified as unspecified.
