IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In December 2021, 1 171 244 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 424 900 South African residents and 746 344 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 347 188 were made up of 35 078 non-visitors and 312 110 visitors. The visitors consisted of 49 002 same-day visitors and 263 108 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 51 516 from overseas; 206 349 from the SADC countries; 4 860 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 383 tourists was classified as unspecified.
