IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In May 2021, 735 165 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 239 831 South African residents and 495 334 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 258 521 were made up of 39 128 non-visitors and 219 393 visitors. The visitors consisted of 36 046 same-day visitors and 183 347 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 20 762 from overseas; 158 185 from the SADC countries; 4 032 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 368 tourists was classified as unspecified.
