IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In December 2020, 935 085 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 333 579 South African residents and 601 506 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 279 539 were made up of 39 102 non-visitors and 240 437 visitors. The visitors consisted of 42 378 same-day visitors and 198 059 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 36 357 from overseas; 157 258 from the SADC countries; 4 100 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 344 tourists was classified as unspecified.
