Key findings: P0351 - Tourism and Migration, January 2021

In January 2021, 520 510 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They were made up of 189 721 South African residents and 330 789 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 195 861 were made up of 45 870 non-visitors and 149 991 visitors. The visitors consisted of 10 857 same-day visitors and 139 134 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 13 687 from overseas; 121 764 from the SADC countries; 3 461 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 222 tourists was classified as unspecified.
