IMPROVING LIVES THROUGH DATA ECOSYSTEMS

In April 2016, there were 1 320 375 foreign arrivals to South Africa. The arrivals were made up of 79 201 non-visitors and 1 241 174 visitors. The visitors consisted of 445 255 same-day visitors and 795 919 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 188 491 from overseas; 590 456 from the SADC countries; 15 996 from 'other' African countries and the country of residence of 976 tourists was classified as unspecified.
The 795 919 tourists who visited South Africa in April 2016 represents a 10,6% increase on the 719 557 who visited in April 2015.
