In December 2014, there were 1 447 598 foreign arrivals to South Africa. The arrivals were made up of 31 133 non-visitors and 1 416 465 visitors. The visitors consist of 481 766 same-day visitors and 934 699 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 221 348 from overseas; 696 438 from the SADC countries; 15 331 from other African countries. The country of residence of 1 582 tourists was classified as unspecified.
