In May 2009, there were 764 700 foreign arrivals to South Africa. The arrivals were made up of 29 064 non-visitors and 735 636 visitors. The visitors consist of 199 589 same-day visitors and 536 047 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region of residence is as follows: 118 718 from overseas; 402 027 from SADC countries; 12 581 from `other` African countries;and 2 721 unspecified.
