In April 2009, there were 848 997 foreign arrivals to South Africa. The arrivals were made up of 29 695 non-visitors and 819 302 visitors. The visitors consist of 204 126 same-day visitors and 615 176 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows: 146 504 from overseas; 452 855 from SADC countries; 12 586 from `other` African countries and 3 231 unspecified.
