The total number of foreign travellers who visited South Africa from Africa, overseas and unspecified countries, arriving through all ports of entry during August 2007 was 788 117. The August 2007 figure represents an increase of 12,3% as compared with the August 2006 figure of 701 991. During August 2007, the most common mode of travel used by foreign travellers arriving in South Africa was road, involving 560 984 (71,2%) travellers while the total number of foreign travellers departing, road constituted the most common mode of travel 484 533 (69,5%).
