The total number of foreign travellers who visited South Africa from Africa, overseas and unspecified countries, arriving through all ports of entry during May 2007 was 699 450. The May 2007 figure represents an increase of 9,0% as compared with the May 2006 figure of 641 700. During May 2007, the most common mode of travel used by foreign travellers arriving in South Africa was road, involving 485 697 (69,4%) travellers while the total number of foreign travellers departing, road constituted the most common mode of travel 422 595 (69,0%).
