The total number of foreign travellers who visited South Africa from Africa, overseas and unspecified countries, arriving through all ports of entry during January 2007 was 824 249. The January 2007 figure represents an increase of 13,0% as compared with the January 2006 figure of 729 249. During January 2007, the most common mode of travel used by foreign travellers arriving in South Africa was road, involving 542 243 (65,8%) travellers while the total number of foreign travellers departing, road constituted the most common mode of travel 417 599 (72,9%).
