The total number of foreign travellers who visited South Africa from mainland Africa, overseas and unspecified countries, arriving through all ports of entry during November 2005 was 685 555. The November 2005 figure represents an increase of 11,8% as compared with the November 2004 figure of 561 142. During November 2005, the most common mode of travel used by foreign travellers arriving in South Africa was road, involving 463 957 (67,7%) travellers while the total number of foreign travellers departing, road constituted the most common mode of travel 422 586 (67,6%).
