The total number of foreign travellers who visited South Africa from mainland Africa, overseas and unspecified countries, arriving through all ports of entry during September 2005 was 628 398. The September 2005 figure represents an increase of 12,0% as compared with the September 2004 figure of 561 142. During September 2005, the most common mode of travel used by foreign travellers arriving in South Africa was road, involving 448 491 (71,4%) travellers while the total number of foreign travellers departing, road constituted the most common mode of travel 406 603 (73,3%).
