Key findings: P0309.3 - Mortality and causes of death in South Africa: Findings from death notification, 2007
This statistical release presents information on mortality and causes of death in South Africa, based on all death notification forms received from the Department of Home Affairs for deaths that occurred in 2007. The release outlines trends and differentials in mortality from 1997 to 2007. It also provides patterns of causes of death in South Africa.
The results indicate a slight decline in mortality in the country between 2006 and 2007. The decline in the number of deaths was observed at all ages below 55 years and for both males and females. The greatest decline was observed in age groups 1
