The unemployment rate declined to 26,2% in September 2004 from 27,9% in March 2004. The increase in the unemployment rate to 26,5% in March 2005 from 26,2% in September 2004 is not statistically significant. The number of employed persons rose from 11,4 million in March 2004 to 11,6 million in September 2004 and 11,9 million in March 2005. The industries that registered the largest increases in employment growth over the period September 2004 to March 2005 were agriculture (up by 107 000 jobs) and trade, up by a similar number.
