The average annual rate of increase in the PPI for all commodities for South African consumption for the year 2007 is 10,0% (i.e. the average PPI for the year 2007 compared with that for the year 2006). The average annual rate of 10,0% is 2,3 percentage points higher than the corresponding average annual rate of 7,7% for the year 2006 (i.e. the average PPI for the year 2006 compared with that for the year 2005), while it is 6,9 percentage points higher than the corresponding average annual rate of 3,1 for the year 2005 (i.e. the average PPI for the year 2005 compared with that for the year 2004).

KEY FINDINGS AS AT DECEMBER 2007

The annual percentage change in the PPI is higher at +10,3% at December 2007 (i.e. the PPI at December 2007 compared with that at December 2006).

The Production Price Index (PPI) for all commodities for consumption in South Africa shows an annual rate of change of 10,3% at December 2007 (i.e. the PPI at December 2007 compared with that at December 2006). This rate is 1,2 percentage points higher than the corresponding annual rate of 9,1% at November 2007 (i.e. the PPI at November 2007 compared with that at November 2006).

From November 2007 to December 2007 the PPI for all commodities for consumption in South Africa increased by 0,5%.
