Key findings for the quarter ended September 2006

The total turnover of all industries (1) for the third quarter of 2006 was estimated at R982 455 million, an increase of 5,2% compared with the revised second quarter of 2006 (R933 738 million). Between the second quarter of 2006 and the third quarter of 2006 turnover increased in all of the eight industries covered in the survey. The largest increase was recorded for electricity, gas and water supply (+22,9%), followed by mining and quarrying (+10,2%), manufacturing (+7,1%), construction (+6,3%), trade (+4,0%), real estate and other business services (excluding financial intermediation and insurance) (+2,6%), transport, storage and communication (+1,8%) and community, social and personal services (excluding government institutions) (+1,3%).
