P0043 - Liquidations and insolvencies summary for October 2017

The total number of liquidations showed an increase of 5,4% in October 2017 compared with October 2016. Compulsory liquidations increased by 12 cases while voluntary liquidations decreased by 2 cases.

Five out of the ten industries increased year-on-year with unclassified being the major contributor (19 more liquidations, from 37 to 56).

There was a decrease of 0,6% in the three months ended October 2017 compared with the three months ended October 2016. The total number of liquidations recorded for the first ten months of 2017 decreased by 8,2% compared with the first ten months of 2016.

The estimated number of insolvencies increased by 24,8% year-on-year in September 2017. A 21,0% increase was estimated in the third quarter of 2017 compared with the third quarter of 2016.

Seasonally adjusted insolvencies increased by 9,9% in September 2017 compared with August 2017. This followed month-on-month changes of -0,8 % in August 2017 and 5,4% in July 2017.
