Key findings: P0043 - Statistics of Liquidations and insolvencies, June 2012

The number of liquidations for the first six months of 2012 reflected a year-on-year decrease of 7,8%. However, year-on-year increases of 36,5% and 42,6% were recorded for June 2012 and for the quarter ending June 2012 respectively. These strong growth rates were influenced by the Companies Act of 2008, which came into effect on 1 May 2011 and introduced the business rescue scheme, resulting in a low base in May and June 2011.

The number of insolvencies for the first five months of 2012 decreased by 13,4% compared with the same period of 2011. A year-on-year decrease of 2,8% was estimated for May 2012.
