Key findings: P0043 - Statistics of Liquidations and insolvencies, May 2012

The number of liquidations for the first five months of 2012 showed a year-on-year decrease of 12,6%. In May 2012, the number of liquidations increased by 151,4% compared with May 2011. The increase (from 107 to 269) for May 2012 was influenced by the Companies Act of 2008, which came into effect on 1 May 2011 and introduced the business rescue scheme, resulting in a low base in May 2011.

The number of insolvencies fell by 14,5% for the first four months of 2012 compared with the same period of 2011. A year-on-year decrease of 1,9% was estimated for April 2012.
