Key findings: 12-00-00 - Forestry, logging and related services industry, 2017
Income
The
total income for the forestry, logging and related services industry in 2018
was R23,1 billion, which was 5,8% lower than the R24,5 billion recorded in
2017. Comparing 2017 and 2018, a large decrease was reported for ‘forestry and
related services’ (‑R2,0 billion or ‑8,4%).
The
number of persons employed in the forestry, logging and related services
industry in 2018 was 40 482. This represents an increase of 821 persons
employed (+2,1%) compared with 39 661 persons employed in 2017. Forestry,
logging and related services employed the largest number of persons
(35 133 or 86,8%), of whom 26 739 or 66,1% were male.
The
average value of salaries and wages in the forestry, logging and related
services industry in 2018 was R96 184. The type of service with the highest
average salaries and wages in 2018 was ‘forestry, logging and related services (R101
628).
