Umtshezi

uMtshezi Local Municipality is an administrative area in the Uthukela District of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. uMtshezi is an isiZulu word for Bushman or San. uMtshezi Local Municipality comprises parts of the Magisterial Districts of Weenen and Estcourt, the informal settlements of Cornfields, Thembalihle, Mimosadale, and numerous settlements around Weenen. Estcourt is the largest commercial centre in the Midlands region, and an important service centre for the nearby towns of Mooi River, Winterton, Bergville, Colenso and Weenen. Weenen is a small agricultural town that is starting to emerge as a tourist destination. The majority of the people in the municipality are concentrated in urban areas and in farming areas but there are a few patches of high-density settlements within the informal areas. Greater Letaba

Greater Letaba Local Municipality (GLM) is characterised by contrasts such as varied topography, population densities (low in the south, relatively dense in the north-east), and prolific vegetation in the south (timber) and sparse vegetation in the north (bushveld). The availability of natural resources such as dams, tourism attractions, nature reserves and proximity to intensive economic activities create opportunities for economic spin-offs. The �gates� to the municipal area are considered to be Sekgopo in the west, Modjadjiskloof in the south, MamailaKolobetona in the north and Makgakgapatse in the east. Lephalale

Lephalale Local Municipality is named after the local river, a tributary of the Limpopo River, which has been the source of life to the people of this area for centuries.�The town of Lephalale is located a mere 280 km from Tshwane and is a recognised gateway to Botswana and other Southern African countries.�Lephalale is the home of the Medupi Power Station that is currently under construction. Modimolle

Modimolle Local Municipality is named after the Modimolle mountain. The word Modimolle literally means "the forefather's spirit has eaten" (Modimo o lle). According to tradition, it often happened that someone would climb the mountain, only to disappear without a trace.

�The original name was Nylstroom, named so after the Voortrekkers had come across the north-flowing river and mistook it for the Nile River in Egypt. The fact that there is a pyramid-shaped hill close by only served to strengthen this misconception.

Modimolle, Limpopo, South Africa is a charming town with an expanding business sector which serves as the commercial centre of the Waterberg. Nylstroom (Modimolle) is famous for its export of grapes and other soft fruits like peaches and watermelons.
