Hermanus named after Hermanus Pieters, first holidaymaker there from Holland who arrived there in the early 1800's. He retreated there every year with his sheep. It was originally named Hermanuspietersfontein. The name was shortened in 1904. (GPS coordinates: 34.4112 S, 19.2611 E).
