Pretoria is the capital city of South Africa, and was founded in 1855 on the farm Elandspoort. It was named after the Voortrekker leader Andries Wilhelmus Jacobus Pretorius (1798-1853) and was also known as Pretoria Philadelphia, Pretorium and Pretoriusdorp. (GPS coordinates: 25.7423 S, 28.1694 E).
