Lenasia was founded in 1958 as an Indian township. The name Lenasia is possibly an amalgamation of the words Lenz and Asia. Lenz possibly originates from a Captain Lenz who owned the original piece of land on which Lenasia is located. (GPS coordinates: 26.3275 S, 27.847 E).
